The challenge
The maker's mixing and mastering plugins had a cult following in Japan, but the team had no way to bill in yen and no appetite for setting up a Japanese subsidiary just to test the market.
Card-only checkout left money on the table. A meaningful share of Japanese buyers expected konbini and carrier billing, and Brazilian producers wanted Pix and installments, none of which it could offer.
